Hi James, It has been almost 20 years since I last collected the pink dolomite near Black Rock. The original quarry had been closed for several years, when I first collected there 25 years ago. When I led a small group to Arkansas in 1987. I phoned ahead for permission to enter an operating quarry on the main highway north of Black Rock. The person who answered the phone said that the boss would never let us in. When we got there, we got in & were personally escorted by the boss to the best collecting area. The reason was because I gave him a photo of him with the family of friends of mine. He had let them in. After I gave him the photo, he said he couldn't say no to us collecting. I don't remember the name of the quarry any more, but it was about three to five miles north of Black Rock on the right, east, side of the highway. You pass a quarry next to the highway on the left side of the road perhaps a half mile to a mile before the quarry on the right, which is perhaps a quarter mile east on a mine road. I got several excellent specimens. The collecting situation changes all the time. 20 years is a long time, but it won't hurt to try. Good Luck, Lloyd
