Hello all, I am the proud owner of an almost brand new 14" drop slab saw. I got it all set up, leveled, etc. Filled it with oil and test cut a small (2x4) piece of farily hard rock. It cut with no problems. Good, I think. Get a large piece of jasper/agate (5x8) clamped in and start cutting. At first things progress ok, but after a bit the saw just stops cutting. The blade is practically brand new, and I "sharpened" it by cutting some obsidian and brick right before I started on the jasper. It is true, I took a metal ruler and held it across the blade while rotating it. No slop in any bearings or arbor, and all fasteners are tight. When I shut the saw off mid-cut, it stops a bit quickly almost like the blade is bound up. When running, it sounds like it is cutting and there is not any howling or high pitch whining. The rock seems to be clamped in place and not moving. If I "help" gravity a bit, the saw does cut but I don't know what damage I can do to the blade. Can you hang weights on the end of the arm? There is a rod there that looks like very convenient place to hang weight from. If so, how much weight? I have lots of rough to cut and polish, but the saw does not want to cooperate. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I searched the web, but can't find any drop saw specific tips. Thanks for any help. Rob
