I am new to this site but I hope someone can help. This is the craziest rock or metal or petrified seed I have ever seen. It is magnetic, as it holds a charge. But from what I can gather, there was a "Meteorite Impact Event" in the Chesapeake Bay 35 million years ago - the 6th largest known on earth according to geological websites. In 2004-2006, there were explorations and it was found that the meteorite was only 2 miles wide, but blasted a crater thousands of feet deep, 53 miles in diameter, and shattered the crystalline bedrock, which some think, created the Bay. I believe the recent explorations may have lead to this strange finding. Usually, there are very little rocks or even shells in this area as the waters are so deep. It is because of that reason that this area is home to a very large military base. Not a whole lot washes up but Jellyfish and seaweed.

My first thought on finding it was that is is some type of petrified seed (looks like a worn Mango seed to me) encased by some type of metal or heavy rock. I did not touch this. Found it as is. Any help out there?
