Re: Fouth of July Trip to Hiddenite

I live near hiddenite and i have been there several times. The creek, sluice, and all other areas are all salted. The chances of finding something local is quite small, although there is some chance. Mostly you will find smokey quartz and quartz crystals. If you are interested in a trip to that are, try visiting Foggy Mountain Gem Mine in Boone. It is only an hrs drive from hiddenite and they fature lots of local stones. They also have a graduate gemologist on staff. Hiddeninte is a fun place, however there are much other venues that offer the same services with a much better atmosphere and attitude.
