Beginner Rockhounding - Advice Needed

We're about to leave on a trip that will involve my first (yay!) rockhounding opportunities. Well, I hope it will anyway... :)

I'm just looking for easy access places where I can finally find a few of my own rocks. I'm limited in difficulty of access as my partner has multiple sclerosis and isn't able to do much walking - so I'll need to stick fairly close to where we park.

Now - the area I'll be in! We'll be flying into Vegas and promptly renting a car and heading towards the Grand Canyon, stopping to see Hoover Dam I'm sure. We'll be in Grand Canyon for one full day (two nights) and then on to Page, AZ. From there, we'll head up to Bryce Canyon and then on to Zion after that. Finally, we'll leave Zion, drive through Valley of Fire and head back into Vegas to meet in-laws. I believe the whole out-of-Vegas part of the trip is 6 days. I know not to collect anything in federally protected lands - national parks, monuments, etc - but I would like to find any areas on that loop we'll be on that I can legally collect a few rocks. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really really appreciate it!

This will be the first time I've had any chance to find a few of my own rocks to work with and I can hardly stand the excitement. Anything I find will be better than limestone and sandstone... :)

thanks so much for any help!
